About me
Hello! I'm Tabby! I began making cold process soaps about a decade ago, initially as a way to put my excess breast milk to meaningful use. This sparked my love affair with soap-making. To deepen my skills, I later completed a specialized course in Singapore, where I learned to formulate soaps, work with a variety of ingredients, and create not just beautiful soaps, but little works of art. I love using natural ingredients—botanical matter, nourishing oils, and other wholesome elements—to craft soaps that are both luxurious and meaningful. Hand made soaps are not just for washing but can be used as mediums to express thoughts, creativity and ideas.
Location
I have been living in beautiful Upper Swaledale with my family for 2021. Over the years I have lived in different continents but there is nothing quite like the Yorkshire Dales, its beauty, the rich history, but most of all my amazing local friends and their stories are very special to me. Other than the natural beauty, the dales folk are the true gems of Yorkshire Dales!
Rooted in heritage
Living in Upper Swaledale, I’ve been inspired by the rich heritage of this area—the traditional ways of life, the historic stone walls, the meadows, and the connection to the land that generations before me nurtured. Learning about this heritage deepened my respect even more for natural processes and handmade craft. It felt only natural to reflect this in my work, by creating soaps with traditional methods and natural ingredients, I’m not just making a product—I’m honouring the history, the landscape, and the artisan spirit of Swaledale in every bar.
Ecology
The landscapes of Upper Swaledale are more than just beautiful—they are delicate ecosystems shaped over centuries. Being surrounded by these meadows, stone walls, and waterways has made me deeply aware of our responsibility to care for the environment. In my soap-making, I embrace this philosophy by using natural, sustainable ingredients, minimising waste, and packaging all products in plastic-free, eco-friendly materials. Each soap I create is a small way to honour the ecology of the Dales, celebrating nature while treading lightly upon it.
Education
Using soaps as a creative medium, I explore the heritage and natural beauty of the Dales. Workshops are coming up in 2026 in the National Parks, including the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes.
